Ruckomechi is a luxury permanent camp based on the western boundary of Mana Pools in its own large private concession. The lodge overlooks the Zambezi River and is seasonal (open from 1st April to 15th November). It is accessible by light aircraft and is about 20 minutes from the local airstrip by jeep. It is a beautiful lodge which is particularly a favourite of the elephants, who often visit for the tasty pods of the Albida trees in camp! Ruckomechi is the ideal lodge for those looking for adventure in the comfort of a lodge with style.

Accommodation consists of ten tented rooms of which one is a double family unit and one is a honeymoon suite – they are all en-suite with both indoor and outdoor showers and all have a verandah with a view of the river. There is a central dining, bar, library, lounge, infinity pool deck with hammocks, stargazing and fire deck and a secluded outdoor ‘bath-with-a-view’. Every room or outdoor area of the lodge is decorated in a chic safari style giving a contemporary feel but with a twist of the colonial.

Activities include day and night game drives, guided nature walks, river cruises, catch-and-release fishing (seasonal and from the river bank or by boat).  A hide sleep out is weather dependant. Families travelling with children between 6yrs to 12yrs old will need to book and pay for activities on a private basis. The minimum age for walking is 13 yrs old, and 16 yrs for canoeing.
